Note: If the press-to-talk button isn't working, you can transmit by placing the T-R-REM switch in the T position. If you use the T position, be sure not to leave the switch in T after you are through talking. If you do, you can't receive and you block out anybody trying to transmit in your vicinity. Whenever you use the T, put the switch into the R position as soon as you finish transmitting, so you can receive.
TO RECEIVE
To receive on the VHF set, release the pressto-talk button and adjust volume with the dial on the side of the control box. To receive when the press-to-talk button isn't working, place the T-R-REM switch in R.
DETROLA
To operate, switch it on and tune to the frequency you want. You can receive over both VHF and Detrola at the same time. The Detrola has no transmitter.
Planes having VHF radios also have a Detrola, a low-frequency (200-400 Kc) receiver,on the floor of the cockpit. Use the Detrola. to receive control towers, radio beams and range stations transmitting on low frequencies.
