  2. Remove the jumper wire with vlug PL-156 on each end from the right side of the shelf by removing two adell clips.

  The top shelf 87-67-853, is now clear of all wires and plugs except one ground wire. Leave this ground wire in place.

 (g) To clear the middle shelf: (87-67-844)

  1. Remove jumper wires with PL-147 plug on one end from 87-67-844 rack by removing two adell clips on forward and right side of rack.

  2. Remove jumper wire with PL-151 plugs on each end by removing two adell clips at the forward end and on the right side of the shelf.

  This will clear the rack except for a ground wire and harness with plug PL-152.

 (h) To clear the lower shelf; (87-67-714)

  1. Remove jumper wires with plug PL-148 on one end by removing one adell clip on the shelf on the aft side and the tape on the channel of the shelf.

  This clears the shelf completely.

 (i) To remove feed wires:

  I. Remove the cover of the battery junction box directly across from the fuselage access door.

  2. Disconnect the wires 516, 515, 514, 513.

  Wires 516 and 513 are ground wires and on the left side of the box. Wires 514 and 515 on the lower right solenoid must be disconnected and all four wires pulled out of the juction box through the rubber grommet on the left side of the box near the top. Wires are now clear.

 (j) In the cockpit; to remove the controls of the receiver:

  1. Disconnect PL-152 from BC-450-A receiver control.

  2. Remove lock wire from the three snap slides on BC-450-A control.

  3. Remove MC-215 tuning shaft from BC. 450-A control.

  4. Remove PL-55 plug from receiver control.

  5. Remove the BC450-A control from the cockpit.

  6. Remove the mounting FT-222-A by removing four screws.

 (k) To remove the transmitter control:

  5. Remove the BC450-A control from the cockpit.

        6. Remove the mounting FT-222-A by removing four screws.

 (k) To remove the transmitter control;

  1. Disconnect plug PL-153 from BC-451-A transmitter control unit.

  2. Remove lock wires on BC-451-A control.

  3. Remove plug PL-68 from BC-451-A control.

  4. Remove BC-451-A control from the cockpit.

  5. Remove the mounting FT-228-A by removing four screws.

 (1) To remove phone cords:

  1. Remove all clips attaching to cord with plug PL-68 and disconnect wires from block opposite instrument panel on right side under longeron.

  2. Remove all clips attached to cord with jack JK-48 and disconnect from block beneath right longhorn.

  3. Remove all clips attached to cord with plug PL-55 and remove cord and jack JK-56.

 (m) Removal of wiring harness:

  1. Remove wire 573 from main switch box beneath instrument panel.

  2. Remove all adell clips on the harness be. tween stations 3 and 9. This wire harness runs along right side of the cockpit and along the match angle below station 5 armor plate, and then up above the fuselage gas tank on the right side. Clips are on each bulkhead. This harness branches at station 8 with a plug PL-152 clipped to 87-67-844 shelf. The remainder of the harness continues on to station 9 branching off to shelf 87-67-714 with plug PL-154 on the end.

 (n) To remove tuning shaft:

  1. Remove the shaft from the grommets at stations 4 and 5 on the right side approximately at the center line of the ship. After station 5, remove the clips on the bulkheads up to station 9 and then remove the shaft from the fuselage.

(3) To install the SCR-522 radio in the airplane.

 (a) To install the control units in the cockpit.

  1. Install BC-602-A radio control which is attached to 87-67-958 adapter plate on fuselage bracket 87-610-1027 which is located on the right side of the cockpit between stations 3 and 4.

  2. Install BC-629-B jack box (or Curtiss part 87-67-895) on bracket 87-610-1029 on the right side of the cockpit below the center line of the airplane.
