MAJOR COMPONENT PARTS AND INSTALLATION |
will relieve the pressure in the system so that hydraulic oil will not squirt all over when the fines are disconnected. Disconnect the line at the rear of the hydraulic hand pump and attach a rubber hose to the pump at this part. Pump the hydraulic fluid into a gallon can by actuating the hand pump until it moves freely indicating that the hydraulic system is empty. About three (3) quarts will be pumped out. (z) Disconnect the line at the center of the hand pump. (aa) Disconnect the two (2) hydraulic lines to the landing gear one (1) foot to the left and three (3) inches ahead of the wing tank fuel gage. (ab) Disconnect the two (2) hydraulic flap lines on the floor, eight (8) inches aft of the #5 bulkhead on the left side of the fuselage. (ac) Disconnect the two hydraulic brake lines on each side of the cockpit floor about one (1) -foot ahead of the rudder pedals. (ad) Disconnect the airspeed lines at the left of the left rudder pedal. (4ae) Remove the bomb-tank release handle from its support at #3 bulkhead and lay the handle as. sembly on the wing. (of) Disconnect the belly bomb arming control cable and remove the tripod support from the wing. (ag) Raise the airplane slightly to relieve the load on the fuselage wing bolts. (ah) Remove the three bolts attaching the rear end of the wing angle to the fuselage. (ai) Remove the "wing to -fuselage' joint bolts. (ai) Disconnect electrical conduits at the two junction boxes at each side of the seat and beneath the center of the switch panel. (ak) Raise the fuselage till it clears the trailing edge of the wing six (6) inches then raise the front three (3) inches. Inspect to me that all tines and connections are free. Raise both front and rear and move forward at the same time to clear lines at the front of the wing. |
(2) TO DISASSEMBLE THE COMPLETE WING;-To separate the wing into individual panels: (a) Remove the bomb shackle at the match angle. (See Fig. 36.) (b) Remove the rear, intermediate inboard landing gear fairing. (This step is necessary in order to remove the wing tank doors.) (c) Remove any hydraulic lines connecting the two panels at the upper surface of the wings. (d) Remove the electric fuel pump, strainer, and fuel selector valve from their supports, attached to the match angle at the leading edge. (e) Remove the main fuel tines on the under surface of the wings at the match angle. (f) Remove the wing tank fuel gage. (g) Remove the fuel tank doors as a single unit by removing all screws and bolts which attach the doors to the wing, including the screws and six bolts through web 3. (See Fig. 29.) (h) Remove the bonding and tank straps. (i) Remove the fuel tank shell assembly and fuel cell. (i) Remove the screws in the place across the center line of the wing at the forward bottom edge of web 3. (k) Disconnect the two 3/s inch hydraulic lines at the tee fittings on the left wing panel, forward of the hydraulic landing gear control handle. (t) Remove the link from the flap actuating cylinder to the bell crank in the left wing panel and disconnect the hydraulic lines to the actuating cylinder. (The cylinder is attached to the center line bulkhead.) (See Fig. 30.) (m) Remove the two bolts which attach the control stick torque tube rear fitting to the match angles. (n) Disconnect the links at the aileron control arm~on the torque tube. (o) Remove the bonding from the control stick to the wing panel. |
