  4. Remove the top cowl as follows:

   a. Disconnect the left and right hot air duct hose from the hot air intake at the carburetor air intake box.

   b. Disconnect the carburetor air intake box from the carburetor by loosening the wing nuts on each side of the carburetor.

   c. Disconnect the air filter control arm at the outside bell crank located on the top right of the firewall.

   d. Disconnect the carburetor air heat control arm at the bell crank located on the right side of the carburetor air intake box.

   e. Remove the two Reed and Prince screws holding the top cowling to the firewall and the four Reed and Prince screws holding the top cowling to the forward engine bulkhead.

  5. Remove the cowl gaps and formers by removing the cowl shutter support channel as one unit. Part of the skin attached to the cowl by Reed and Prince screws will have to be removed in order to get at the Cowl attaching bolts.

  6. Remove the air exit duct by removing the three (3) screws at the rear of the coolers, the two bolts on top of the exit duct above the aft end of each cooler, the two (2) canvas seals from the coolant radiators to the exit ducts, the screw on each side of the aft end of the exit duct and the clip holding the vent lines to the rear of the exit duct. The exit duct can now be removed.

  7. Remove the spinner and propeller as outlined in paragraph 6, d., of this Section. .

  8. Disconnect the fuel primer line (1/4" copPer tube) between the engine banks, and bend out to the right to clear the engine.

  9. Disconnect the magneto electrical conduit to the booster coil at the firewall junction box.

  10. Disconnect the manifold pressure line between the banks of the engine, and bend out to the right to clear the engine when hoisting.
        11. Disconnect the oil pressure Hoe at the fitting on the right rear of the engine directly over the oil pump.

  12. Disconnect the fuel pressure line at the rear center of the carburetor.

  13. Disconnect the oil dilution fuel line at the right rear center of the carburetor.

  14. Disconnect the oil inlet line located on the forward side of the oil "Y" drain.

  15. Disconnect the inlet fuel line at the engine-driven fuel pump (rear center).

  16. Disconnect the right rear coolant line at the coolant "Y" on the coolant pump.

  17. Disconnect the booster coil electrical conduit at the junction box at the firewall.

  18. Disconnect the scavenger oil outlet line at the hose connection at the rear of the oil cooler.

  29. Disconnect the starter pull cable by removing the starter pull button.

  20. Remove the tachometer shaft at the rear of the right engine cylinder bank.

  21. Remove the two adell clamps holding the right distributor drain to the starter crank support.

  22. Disconnect the right front coolant line and remove the adell clamp from the gear reduction housing.

  23. Disconnect the left front coolant line from the left front cylinder bank.

  24. Disconnect the oil vent line from the top of the gear reduction housing.

  25. Disconnect the propeller control electrical conduit from the brush housing, removing the two adell clamps from the forward engine bulkhead.

  26. Disconnect the propeller governor electrical conduit at the propeller governor, removing the three (3) adell clamps from the front of the engine.
